Our congreation was founded in 1895 as Trinity Reformed Church.
Its founders sought to provide a place of worship for the
German Reformed people of the Glen Rock area.
Since its founding, Trinity Church has been known for its dedicated
pastoral ministries, strong Church School program, emphasis on
family fellowship, and concern for world mission. The church
building was dedicated in 1896 and has been renovated several times.
In 1958, an educational wing was added, including classrooms for
all ages, a church parlor, and a large fellowship hall area. Our
beautiful church sanctuary includes a fine Moller pipe organ
and memorial stained glass windows depicting the life of Christ.
The purpose of Trinity Church is to worship God, to preach the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the Sacraments.
We seek also to realize Christian fellowship and unity within
our congregation and the Church universal, and to strive for
righteousness, justice, and peace.
Trinity Church is today a part of the United Church of Christ, a
major Protestant denomination formed in 1957 through the merger
of two historic traditions. The Congregational Christians were
the direct spiritual descendants of the pilgrims who landed at
Plymouth Rock, many of the founders of our nation, and of the
pioneers who settles America. The Evangelical and Reformed Church -
our branch of the U.C.C. - traces its history to Luther, Zwingli,
Calvin, and the great reformers of the 16th century. Our church
descends from that of the bold men and women who brought their
Reformation faith with them as they settled Pennsylvania and the
West, contributing greatly to the spiritual life of the
American people.
While coming from different ethnic backgrounds, the Congregationalists
and the Reformed shared a common evangelical outlook and an emphasis on
the importance of the local congregation and an educated ministry.
