December, 1998 On November 11th AWARE held a public meeting at the Community Center with over 180 people in attendance. We would like to thank the members of the community who took the time to come to the meeting. Also a special thank you to Mr. William T. Morris and Mr. Jeff Hines from York Water Company and to Mr. Elmer Knaub and Mr. Chester Young from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for attending and answering questions from the community. Thank you also to the township for use of the Community Center and to David Wisnom and William Streett for their attendance. Noticeably absent were members of the Stewartstown Borough Council and the Water Authority. They missed an orderly, informative meeting. Members of the community who could not attend our meeting will still be able to sign our petitions. AWARE members will be coming to your door soon with a petition against using Ebaughs Creek for our water supply and one for the acquisition of the system by York Water Company. We hope you will help us by signing the petitions. If you could not attend and still have questions you would like answered please contact us by E-mail or letter. Due to the upcoming holidays and the unreliability of the weather AWARE will not be sending out regular newsletters over the winter. AWARE members will still be meeting and working toward our goal of a clean, affordable, reliable water supply. Note Borough residents: We are looking for borough residents who would like to run for borough offices. Please contact us if you are interested. The members of AWARE would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. |
