Example Quarterly Water Bill Calculation
The following is the calculation of the Quarterly (3 months) Water Bill for an average Family of 4 people. This calculation assumes that the average person uses 50 gallons of water per day. Check you water bill to determine your actual usage.
Gallons Used Per Day
4 people x 50 gallons/day = 200 gallons/day for the entire family.
Gallons Used Per Month
200 gallons/day x 30 days/month = 6000 gallons/month for the family.
Thousands of Gallons Used Per Month
The water rates are based-upon the "number of thousands of gallons used".
For 6000 gallons this is:
1000's of gallons used = 6000/1000 = 6. This is used in the table below.
