We Serve:
To the Stewartstown area civic and service minded we
need you to bring new life and fresh ideas to the club.
Purpose:
The purpose of a Lions Club is to provide services to
the community, to the visually handicapped, to
persons with defective hearing, and in general to
provide help to those in need. The motto of the
Lions is We Serve.
Monthly Meetings:
The Stewartstown Lions club meets the first and third
Tuesdays of the month at local churches. A
6:30 p.m. dinner meeting is filled with fun and
fellowship. Special speakers and programs are
scheduled each meeting. The dinner provided
at each meeting is a "pass the bowl" country style
supper which is prepared by the sponsoring church
members. Other activities beside our monthly
meetings include an annual family Christmas party,
summer picnic, and ladies night. Also, State
and International conventions are held each year and
they are family oriented.
Fundraising:
Semi-annual chicken barbecues in June and October, the
York Fair ticket project, the Eureka Fire and
Ambulance Carnival, and the annual Swing for Sight
golf tournament provide monies for various service
projects, as well as other functions for raising funds
for charitable purposes. With our funds, we reach
into the community and beyond to support such activities
as Boy Scouts, Girls Softball, eye glasses for the
needy, Leader Dog School for the Blind, etc.
