Febuary 6, 2002 Dear Praying Friends, This has been a month for both trials and triumph. We are back on track and almost … normal now!?! January was a very busy and interesting month. After Christmas we had less then two weeks to make all the final preparations for camp on the 7th. Running both junior and teen camps the same week had its challenges. However, the Lord provided excellent teen and junior activity directors who did a great job. The heat peaked during the week with highs in the 90's - lots of water games to the rescue. By the end of the week we were exhausted but thrilled with four salvations and twenty various decisions for rededication and/or full time service. Many of the staff said this was the best camp since '95. On Monday after camp my computer adaptor went out and I had to order the part, which took two weeks to receive. In addition, we found our cordless phones in the house not working as an electrical storm had shorted them out while we were at camp. So we rested. On Tuesday I had an acute asthma attack and was admitted to the hospital. I found out I had only 40% use of my lungs on a good day. My bronchial tubes have grown smaller and am taking steroids to improve this. (January 30 the lung specialist said I am now at 90%, but my bronchial tubes are still half blocked.) While I was in the hospital Angela took the boys swimming and thought her purse was in the trunk. A thief broke into the car and stole her purse with cash, cell phone, and her house and car keys (she had mine with her as I did not want them stolen in the hospital -- ha). She called and canceled the credit card in less than 15 minutes of discovery. However, it was too late as the thief had already used it at an ATM and taken out $250. In all this we have not gotten discouraged but have seen the hand of God working. Angela got a little down with having to replace all her personal items. I will admit to being frustrated at times because instead of being able to start the church I had to get my family safe and protected (yes it has been expensive $1300 so far). It will be interesting to see how God will use all this. Your prayers and support continue to from the foundation of our ministry here. We are so thankful for all of you.
