After a brief pastoral search to serve the congregation at Round Hill, we were blessed by the hiring of the Reverend Stephen P. "Gutty" Gutridge for an initial period of one year to serve as Interim Pastor. He and his wife, Paula Ray Gutridge, currently reside in Stewartstown, PA.

    Born April 28, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio, "Gutty" as he prefers to be called, traces his life as a Christian to young adulthood while a student at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. There, the pastor at the Hurstbourne Baptist Church, Louisville, ended every service with an Altar Call. God’s love and grace were so compelling that Gutty finally surrendered to the Master in the spring of 1969. Soon after he wed Paula and they continue to be happily married. After graduation from college, he went to work in industrial sales and was transferred to the branch office in Villanova, PA in September 1970. Christ became an increasingly important part of his life until 1978, when he left the business world to prepare for full-time pastoral ministry.

    Gutty graduated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1981. During his seminary training, he served as a youth pastor in several congregations. In 1982, he was installed as the pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Chester, PA., where he served until 1985 when he and Paula founded Living Christ Ministries. This ministry was the parent company for their very successful live phone-in radio program, "Curious About Christ", that aired daily in the Philadelphia area. Pastor Gutty served a number of congregations as an Interim Pastor over an eleven year period until in March 1996, the Lord called him back to an installed pastorate in Kennett Square where he has served until now.

    Gutty has an infectious enthusiasm for Jesus Christ and His church. He says he is thrilled to be at Round Hill Presbyterian Church. He believes in the Christ centered renewal of individuals that then renew churches and churches that renew denominations. He has spent his career sharing the life-changing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples and training leaders. He looks forward to an ever expanding and more effective ministry at Round Hill. He says often, "Let’s continue to be creative in shaping effective ministry without forgetting who brought us to the dance."

    He and Paula have two grown sons: Charlie, who is married to Mary Elizabeth and the parents of James and Summer Ray, and Steve. The Gutridge children are committed Christians and all currently serve or have served in some type of ministry. The family enjoys two dogs, two cats, and has recently parted with four horses.

    Over the years, Pastor Gutty has led hundreds of people to faith in Christ one-on-one and many more through his preaching.
